THEME: Towards Sustainable Energy Resource Mobilization in Africa

Event Brief

With the dynamic African energy industry faced with intense pressure to decarbonize and adopt renewable energy sources, the future of the oil and gas of the continent is under scrutiny. The sustainable energy future for Africa may not however be advanced by a single strategy due to Africa’s extreme diversity as the continent holds around 9% of the world’s total gas reserves, while 17 of its 55 countries are already gas producers. Moreover, nearly half of the continent’s 55 countries have proven natural gas deposits, including 17.55 trillion standard cubic meters of natural gas and 125.3 billion barrels of crude oil. According to S&P Global Platts, Africa is home to about 40% of the world’s recent gas discoveries. Despite the existing challenges to investment in the continent’s energy sector, the majority of the continent’s producers are currently fostering favourable investment environments for both domestic and foreign companies. This has resulted in the approval of several significant projects in nations like Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique and Nigeria among others, which industry analysts say will unlock the continent’s enormous energy resources.

To accelerate industrialization, experts have opined that African nations must fully utilize their energy deposits throughout the energy transition, and strengthen their governance. In light of this, the African Leadership Magazine is thrilled to put together the African Energy Leadership Forum & Awards, Houston Texas 2023 on the sidelines of the Annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC). The forum aims to bring together decision-makers, leaders from the public and private sectors, business titans, members of civil society, and all other stakeholders on a platform to discuss ways to address some of the major challenges in the African energy sector, as well as explore pathways towards achieving a sustainable energy resource mobilization in Africa.

International Forum On African–Caribbean Leadership (IFAL)

THEME: Financing Investments & Economic Sustainability in Africa

Event Brief

The African Banking and Finance Leadership Forum would be held on the sidelines of the 2022 annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) in Washington DC, United States of America, to bring leaders in the banking and finance industry in Africa, alongside their global counterparts under the same roof to brainstorm on the future of financing Africa’s development in critical times such as this. 

The economic disruptions stemming from the pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, the current geopolitical tensions and possible realignment, the socio-economic instability, debt unsustainability and financing needs for social infrastructure development, food and fuel insecurity driven by climate variability, inadequate recovery of global and regional supply chains and low productivity in inputs, are some of the trends and issues of global concerns around Africa’s socio-economic growth, sustainability and infrastructural development. The African Banking & Finance Leadership Forum would also be an avenue or industry leaders from Africa and the world, including central bankers, ministers of finance, trade and investments, finance and banking sector executives, to discuss issues of global concerns in Africa- fiscal and monetary policies, foreign direct investments, poverty eradication, economic development, aid effectiveness, and more.

The Ghana Summit – (TGS)

THEME: Building Ghana Together- Trade, Investments And Sustainable Development

Organised by the African Leadership Magazine, The Ghana Summit 2022 would bring together government leaders and policymakers, private sector leaders, academia, Non-Governmental Organizations and institutional partners to discuss key issues of governance and development in Ghana and proffer solutions, as well as explore and harness strategic trade and investments opportunities towards the socio-economic development of Ghana, and Africa, by extension. 

The Ghana Summit (TGS2022) would have in attendance international investor groupings, visiting parliamentarians from the United States and the United Kingdom, and leading African business leaders and policymakers. The event shall also be streamed to our online viewers from across 50 nations in Africa, and beyond.
