AFRICAN BANKING LEADERSHIP ROUNDTABLE 2025

According to reports, the World Economic Forum predicts 2024 as a year of economic stabilization, with global GDP growth projected at 3.2%, consistent with 2023 but reflecting the weakest expansion in decades. Inflation is expected to ease slightly, declining from 6.8% in 2023 to 5.9% in 2024. However, key risks include misinformation, disinformation, and climate-related challenges, alongside social unrest and economic pressures on low- and middle-income nations—that have provided a backdrop to this industry in recent years and have intensified in ways that require renewed commitments, smarter strategy, and greater agility. In the same vein, a new report from PwC suggests that by as soon as 2025–2030, a market economy could readily exist without banks of the traditional kind.

With the theme “The Future of Banking in Africa: Inclusion, Digital Transformation, and Fintech Integration,” the African Banking Leadership Roundtable will bring together leading voices from Africa’s banking and financial services sector to engage in transformative discussions shaping the industry. As inflationary pressures and geopolitical tensions disrupt global economies, banks are navigating unprecedented challenges in maintaining stability and driving growth. These challenges, however, also present unique opportunities—especially through the accelerated adoption of digital technologies, which are driving the digital transformation of Africa’s banking sector. The industry is evolving rapidly, driven by shifts in monetary policies, sector fragmentation, and the rise of fintech solutions, which bring both risks and immense opportunities. Moreover, financial institutions are adapting to new technologies and changing consumer needs, with a focus on advancing financial inclusion and addressing regional disparities in service access—critical elements for the future of banking in Africa.

The roundtable offers an invaluable opportunity for participants to showcase their leadership and achievements on a prominent platform, engage with top-tier professionals and colleagues, exchange actionable best practices for navigating economic disruptions, and explore forward-thinking solutions that drive sustainable development, financial stability, and digital transformation across the continent. This is a unique occasion for them to strengthen their influence and thought leadership, forge key connections and be part of a collaborative effort to shape the future of banking in Africa—ensuring inclusion and fintech integration become powerful drivers in overcoming today’s challenges and seizing tomorrow’s opportunities.
