Creating a respectful and inclusive environment
Our Commitment
African Leadership Events is committed to providing a harassment-free, inclusive, and respectful experience for all participants, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, or technology choices.
Expected Behavior
- Be respectful and considerate in all interactions
- Exercise consideration and empathy in your speech and actions
- Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech
- Be mindful of your surroundings and fellow participants
- Alert event organizers if you notice violations of this Code of Conduct
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are considered unacceptable:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form
- Physical or verbal abuse of any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, or staff member
- Unwelcome sexual attention or advances
- Disruption of talks, presentations, or other events
- Recording or photographing individuals without their consent
- Inappropriate physical contact
- Sustained disruption of presentations or other program elements
Professional Conduct
All attendees are expected to maintain professional standards in their interactions. This includes respecting confidentiality, not engaging in aggressive networking, and conducting business discussions appropriately.
Media and Photography
By attending our events, you consent to being photographed and recorded for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be included in event photography or video, please inform our staff who will provide you with identification indicating your preference.
Consequences
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event without refund.
Reporting
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of event staff immediately. Staff can be identified by their badges. All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality.
