International Forum On African-Caribbean Leadership (IFAL) – New York 2024

Theme: Multi-stakeholder Partnerships to drive Transformation towards Sustainability and Resilience in the Global South

The International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership (IFAL) stands as a premier annual event hosted by the African Leadership Magazine (ALM) on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Over the past nine years, IFAL has evolved into a vital platform that brings together world leaders, policymakers, and private sector influencers from Africa and the Caribbean. The forum is dedicated to addressing the unique challenges and seizing the opportunities faced by these regions, fostering trans-regional cooperation and strategic partnerships.

The theme for the 2024 edition, “Multi-stakeholder partnerships to drive transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies,” underscores the critical importance of collaboration among various stakeholders to tackle complex global challenges. In today’s interconnected world, no single entity can effectively address the multifaceted issues we face, such as climate change, poverty, and inequality, which are deeply intertwined, requiring solutions that consider the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of development. The 2024 edition of the International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership (IFAL) will therefore emphasize a holistic approach to problem-solving, addressing the root causes and interdependencies of these challenges.

The forum will unite multiple stakeholders to leverage diverse resources—financial, knowledge-based, technological, and social capital—while engaging governments, private sector companies, civil society organizations, academia, and local communities; this collaboration aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation between nations of both regions, foster synergy, share best practices, develop impactful policy recommendations, and implement integrated strategies to develop innovative and inclusive solutions to address key development challenges and drive sustainable and resilient development.

Past editions of the International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership (IFAL) have brought together over 1000 business, political, and social justice leaders, including H.E. Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana; H.E. Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda; H.E. Dr. Terrance M. Dew, Prime Minister, St. Kitts And Nevis; and HE Philip J. Pierre, Prime Minister of St. Lucia.
