Event Brief

The African Banking and Finance Leadership Forum would be held on the sidelines of the 2022 annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) in Washington DC, United States of America, to bring leaders in the banking and finance industry in Africa, alongside their global counterparts under the same roof to brainstorm on the future of financing Africa’s development in critical times such as this. 

The economic disruptions stemming from the pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, the current geopolitical tensions and possible realignment, the socio-economic instability, debt unsustainability and financing needs for social infrastructure development, food and fuel insecurity driven by climate variability, inadequate recovery of global and regional supply chains and low productivity in inputs, are some of the trends and issues of global concerns around Africa’s socio-economic growth, sustainability and infrastructural development. The African Banking & Finance Leadership Forum would also be an avenue or industry leaders from Africa and the world, including central bankers, ministers of finance, trade and investments, finance and banking sector executives, to discuss issues of global concerns in Africa- fiscal and monetary policies, foreign direct investments, poverty eradication, economic development, aid effectiveness, and more.
